
Especially since she’s one of the artists featured in my upcoming book “Amongst Artists in Antigua and Barbuda”, I was pleased to be able to attend Jan Farara’s art exhibit.

The exhibit “Oh Antigua and Barbuda” being launched today at Antigua’s Harmony Hall gallery was a collection of works by noted local photographers Joseph and Janet Jones. It was a rare portrayal of local life … so honest and sympathetic, and also somewhat of a time capsule since the aspects of life that it so touchingly captures, are also aspects of life that are rapidly changing here.

Joyful to Help Haiti
After the recent devastating earthquake in Haiti a lot of people in Antigua have really felt strongly about wanting to get involved and help. Last night a number of the islands entertainers, restaurants, business people, and other concerned individuals all got together and threw a big benefit for Haiti.

The media opening of Alvin Kofi’s exhibit “Colour & Movement” was intimate. Alvin walked the group of attendees through the heart and soul of the process that brought forth his work; from the subjects that inspired him, to the techniques through which he communicated his unique vision of what he described as “a cultural and spiritual awakening”.
